Why so serious?

Today, I learned that writing does not always have to be so serious.  Sometimes writing should be ridiculous. 

I give you...Ode to an Elephant...inspired by an elephant-shaped animal cracker...

Majestic and proud…and sometimes loud

You swing and you sway and you wander about.

My love for you is deep and it’s true

Say you’ll stay my whole life through

Dearest pachyderm, it is for you that I yearn

You make my soul take flight

Wrap me in your trunk, without you I am sunk

Shade me in the shadow of your ears

For you, I fell…now let’s go chase a gazelle

We’ll frolic and laugh in the afternoon breeze.
